In delivering a range of projects and programs, Sport and Recreation Victoria helps strengthen the sustainability of the sport and recreation sector through assisting in the development and capacity of sport and recreation organisations.

Sport and Recreation Victoria partners with a number of organisations and peak bodies to develop sport and recreation in Victoria on a state-wide or regional basis to increase participation, equity, diversity and inclusiveness.

Sport and Recreation Victoria helps develop an elite sport pathway for Victorian athletes, coaches, officials and administrators through support provided to the Victorian Institute of Sport and Regional Academies of Sport.
