How Can Your Club Stamp Out Poor Spectator Behaviour?

Get on board the “Encourage the kids, Support the Game’ campaign

Welcome to the 2009/10 “Encourage the Kids, Support the Game” campaign.

Here you’ll find a toolkit, tip sheets and posters that you can download and use to get you and your club involved in the campaign and to help spread the message. There is a generic poster available for use by all sports as well as posters specific to AFL, football, basketball and netball. Just click on the relevant link and print off the poster. A3 printed copies of the generic poster are available on request (email madeleine.legge@sport.vic.gov.au or phone 9208 3846).

“Encourage the Kids, Support the Game” is a community education campaign, funded by the Victorian Government and VicHealth, which aims to stamp out poor spectator behaviour in junior sport so that players, parents, all spectators and officials can enjoy the game. The campaign has been developed by a committee which includes representatives from AFL Victoria, Basketball Victoria, Football Federation Victoria and Netball Victoria. We’ve even got some of Victoria’s top sportspeople on board as ambassadors – Andrew Gaze, Julie Corletto, Glenn Archer, Tal Karp and Mitchell Langerak!

Your involvement is vital to the success of this campaign. By becoming involved and using the campaign resources in this toolkit, you’ll be sending a clear message that poor spectator behaviour is unacceptable in your club and helping make junior sport an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Importantly, this campaign is a great platform for your club to attract more volunteers, players and spectators to games.
