Major Stadia Strategy
The Victorian Government is developing a new Major Stadia Strategy to assess and determine the future needs of Victoria’s major sporting stadiums and precincts.
The Victorian Government has committed $15 million to upgrading Eureka Stadium, Ballarat to bring it up to AFL standards and pave the way for the Western Bulldogs to play in Regional Victoria.
The Victorian Cricket and Community Centre is a $40 million project delivering state-of-the-art playing, training and administrative facilities to Junction Oval, St Kilda.
The multimillion dollar transformation of this world class sports and entertainment precinct will ensure Melbourne Park remains the home of the Australian Open for generations to come. Stage 2 of the Redevelopment includes Batman Avenue Bridge, Rod Laver Arena and an Administration and Media Building
The Victorian Government’s $12 million contribution towards the $28.4 million Moorabbin Oval redevelopment will see modern training facilities designed for St Kilda Football Club's top athletes, integrated on the same site as fully accessible facilities for local sporting clubs who cater for all ages and abilities.
The Simonds Stadium Stage 4 redevelopment at Kardinia Park will continue the transformation of the venue into Victoria’s third national multipurpose stadium, strengthening the region as a sports hub and providing the infrastructure required to attract a range of nationally significant events including AFL, T20 Big Bash, NRL, Super 15 Rugby, A-League soccer and concerts.
